Hi, I’m Max and I require a special home with very special people. I had a rough start to life. Some would say I have a pretty good case of PTSD. Unfortunately, I was abused by a man, and I still think about it a lot. I like women, but I get scared easily. When I get scared I go to the bathroom while I run or hide. I would prefer to hide, but running away is something I have become pretty good at. I love living at my foster moms house. I won’t go to the bathroom in the house at all. Unless I am really scared. My favorite things to do are playing in the yard, or walking at the beach. I prefer to be outside when I can. She has fun dogs and cats to play with while I am there. Her kids are grown-ups and don’t live with her anymore, but they come to visit. They are tall men. I get very scared. Sometimes I get so scared I will hide and refuse to eat for days. My foster mom wants to keep me, but I just get so scared when her sons come to our house. It isn’t fair, but I can’t help it. I need a new home, but it has to be a special kind of home. My Foster mom will keep me as long as it takes to find the perfect place for me to live. If you want to adopt me I need you to be: A single woman with few visitors. Little to no male interaction at home. Small dogs and cats in the home are preferred. Need to have a securely fenced yard. (it doesn’t have to be big, but it has to keep me in when I really want to get out.) I am doing ok now, but some of my old injuries are going to bother me when I am older. You will need to be prepared for that. I take medicine for my anxiety. I will probably have to for the rest of my life. I really am a snuggle when I am not scared. Is there a home out there for me?

Adoption Information

Clatsop County Animal Control & Shelter reserves the right to deny adoption to anyone at any time for any reason. In order to do what is best for each animal, they are adopted on a first come first served basis at the shelter to qualified recipients only. A drivers license or state ID must be shown at the shelter.

All animals from the shelter will be spayed or neutered before they leave. We spay and neuter as many animals as we are able to before adoption to make the process faster. No animal will leave the shelter without being spayed and neutered. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please allow yourself enough time to spend time with the animal and do the application and interview. The application and interview take approximately 20 minutes to complete. To adopt an animal you need to fill out an application and be interviewed. All household members will need to meet the animal prior to adoption. Landlord approval is needed if you are a renter.

Dog adoptions have a few more steps. We require that you bring in any current dog either living with you or that will be a frequent visitor for a meet and greet. After this, if the application is approved a home inspection will be scheduled. This is done within two business days. Our goal is to make sure that we find our animals their forever home.

Animal Adoption Fees vary so please call the shelter for adoption fees.
