Don’t let her name fool you, Muffin is no wall flower. At 15+, this mature black beauty has been around the block a few times. Despite her age, she rolled around on the scratching pad like a kitten this afternoon. She’s confident in who she is and what she wants - meow!! Muffin has short dense fur and a small, bright white patch on her chest. She also has a bit of a droopy tummy, some missing teeth and white whiskers! She has a lot to say in a bossy old gal sort of way and has a quirky way she swallows that makes it seem like she has a hair stuck on her tongue that she just can’t shake. Muffin scored big and gets to spend her time in a nice foster home. She’s quite a character and has shown how happy she can be in a quiet home environment. Her foster person reports that the biggest change since Muffin moved out of the shelter is that she is a lover. She still doesn’t like to be picked up, but she’ll put up with it as long as you’re quick, and her destination is a lap. She likes to sit in a lap and will settle down quickly to be petted. If you get distracted and stop petting her, she puts her front paws on your chest and rubs her head against you until you pet her. Once she’s satisfied, she leans against your shoulder for a while to be petted more. In summary, Muffin’s an older gal who needed a little time to adjust to her surroundings. She’s a very sweet cat once she settles in. She’s not a kitten any more, but if someone is looking for a low key friend who is fine with just hanging out, she`ll be a great companion. She’s also a terrific lap cat who will come and tell you when she needs to be in your lap – even though she’ll gripe about being picked up. If you think you could give Muffin her forever home, please call the shelter and make an appointment to meet this special girl. Or ask to have a conversation with the fosterer to learn even more about her.

Adoption Information

Clatsop County Animal Control & Shelter reserves the right to deny adoption to anyone at any time for any reason. In order to do what is best for each animal, they are adopted on a first come first served basis at the shelter to qualified recipients only. A drivers license or state ID must be shown at the shelter.

All animals from the shelter will be spayed or neutered before they leave. We spay and neuter as many animals as we are able to before adoption to make the process faster. No animal will leave the shelter without being spayed and neutered. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please allow yourself enough time to spend time with the animal and do the application and interview. The application and interview take approximately 20 minutes to complete. To adopt an animal you need to fill out an application and be interviewed. All household members will need to meet the animal prior to adoption. Landlord approval is needed if you are a renter.

Dog adoptions have a few more steps. We require that you bring in any current dog either living with you or that will be a frequent visitor for a meet and greet. After this, if the application is approved a home inspection will be scheduled. This is done within two business days. Our goal is to make sure that we find our animals their forever home.

Animal Adoption Fees vary so please call the shelter for adoption fees.
